• Twitter Offer New Stats on Video Advertising
Twitter published an article this week providing new statistics on the performance of video advertising on their platform. Video views have doubled over the last 12 months to 1.2 billion video views per day. They also added that 93% of these views are from mobile – it’s no secret that mobile is the bigger platform for consuming social media, but this figure is truly staggering. Something to keep in mind when optimising your next advert creative?
• Facebook Cracks Down on Fake Accounts and Likes
Earlier this month, Facebook filed a lawsuit in US federal court against “four companies and three people based in the People’s Republic of China for promoting the sale of fake accounts, likes and followers”. This lawsuit also extends across Instagram – being owned by Facebook. The lawsuit will likely look to shut down ‘click farms’ operating within China. Click farms cost social platforms hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue a year, and can look a bit like this:

Happy Birthday to the World Wide Web. On 12th March 1989, Tim Berners-Lee published a proposal for a global hypertext system once known as “Mesh” to later become the “World Wide Web”. • Facebook to Scrap Advertising Relevancy Scores
Every Facebook advertiser knows that a high relevancy score = better performance. But in an article published by Facebook this week, this single metric is soon to be replaced by three more detailed scores. These three new metrics will be titled: Quality ranking, Engagement rate ranking and Conversion rate ranking. The existing relevancy score metric will begin phasing out from 30th April.
